UPS- A Better Solution To Catastrophic Power Failure

By Scott Rodgers

Nowadays, market is flooded with various types of UPS manufactured bu different companies. This is basically due to their ability in providing uninterrupted power supply to the equipments that carry precious data. Therefore, UPS has become a source to prevent data corruptions that largely happens due to over currents or power failure.

Sudden fluctuations or power failure causes immediate turning off the computers. But this can be avoided if one use a good quality pure sinusoidal wave UPS.

Besides, a frequent variation often considered as fluctuations is noticed in the voltage. This can impair the working of the appliances. Moreover, the data stored in that appliance gets totally corrupted. But this uninterrupted power supply system provide you a stable and fixed voltage.

UPS consists of an inverter which converts direct current voltage to alternating current voltage. And so, on the basis of this, these are categorized into three major types. These are on line, off line and line interactive UPS.

As the name suggests on line UPS remain active at all times so as to avoid any kind of risk. These do not depend on frequency and voltage fluctuations and are therefore termed as voltage and frequency independent. Telecommunication equipments, servers and other important networks are being served by this UPS type.

Line interactive or off line UPS are much complicated and are more suitable to protect home appliances. These get activated as soon as the power fluctuates or if there is some power failure.

Also, you must have observed, your home UPS consists of a battery connected to your mains. Its basic function is to provide direct current supply to inverter if the main supply goes off or if a voltage dip is observed..

UPS being the most reliable and cost effective solution to abrupt power failures, is therefore used by most of the homeowners and companies. - 29939
